Commercial Sump Pumps Make The
Grade
Summary: Commercial sump pumps are a necessity for any business
building with a basement. Most commercial grade sump pumps differ from the pumps used by homeowners. Commercial
grade sump pumps often have an exterior that is constructed from high quality cast iron.
Business owners and corporations have alot
of assets to protect. When it comes to flooding many valuable things can be lost by businesses: the building
itself, computers and technological equipment, valuable client files, office supplies, and the list goes on. This
is especially true of business equipment and files stored in a subterranean level of a
building. Commercial
sump pumps are a necessity for any business building
with a basement.
Commercial Sump Pump Features
Most commercial grade sump pumps differ from the pumps used by
homeowners. Commercial grade sump pumps often have an exterior that is constructed from high quality cast
iron. Also, they feature a vertical sump pump
float switch as opposed to the typical float arm. The contacts are well constructed and ensure the
longevity of operation of the commercial sump pumps. Motor seals and rubber sealing boots are not
necessary in many of these models. Fewer parts on any sump
pump can equal longer life since there are fewer mechanisms which can malfunction. Alot of top of
the line commercial models are sprayed with a high quality epoxy to keep the pump housing from dilapidating
over time from corrosive agents.
Another set of great features of commercial sump pumps are higher voltage and more amps. This will keep the sump pump
humming along at greater speeds and yield bigger pumping capacities. Most commercial sump pumps have RPM's of
between 1500 and 1800. Alot of the "nuts and bolts" of the commercial pumps are of better quality. Screws, bolts,
and handles are often constructed from stainless steel.
Some commercial sump pumps are built sturdily enough that they
require being placed on a balanced, firm foundation. Suspension from a ceiling or other structure may not be an
option with these heavy duty commercial pumps. If this is a cause for concern, this needs to be taken into
consideration when purchasing a commercial sump pump.
